Worker must possess the physical strength and endurance (ability to continue or last) to repeat the harvest process though out the workday, working quickly and skillfully to perform activities assigned during that activity. Workers may not leave trash, or other discarded items in work areas or vehicles but must dispose of such items in provided receptacles. Workers must wash hands with soap and water after all bathroom and meal breaks. Allergies to varieties of ragweed, goldenrod, insecticides, related agricultural chemicals, etc., may affect worker’s ability to perform the work described herein. Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations. Crops: Tomatoes, Strawberries, Cucumbers, Squash, Bell Pepper, Eggplant, Watermelon (big and mini), Asparagus, Green Beans, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Sweet Corn, Pumpkin, Zucchini, peaches, blackberries, okra, brassica crops, peppers, flowers. Harvesting Standard: When harvesting products, workers must fully fill the picking container. Workers must not bruise products. Peach Tree Harvest and Maintenance: Workers will help with pruning, thinning, and harvesting peach trees. Spraying chemicals, disposing of old trees and debris will also be part of workers responsibilities. Workers will pick peaches as instructed by the supervisor. Peaches will be picked into hampers/buckets and placed into cardboard boxes or crates. Workers will pick off any cull fruit as well. All equipment necessary to do the tasks at hand will be provided to workers at no cost. Workers will hand transplant, harvest, stake and pack crops as instructed by the supervisor. Workers will lay and pull plastic as instructed by supervisor. Melon Acres will have workers help with any greenhouse maintenance. Workers will help with seeding crops into trays that will be grown for transplants. Workers will help with various greenhouses jobs like watering plants, getting plants ready to take out to field by loading them in a neat manner. Lay plastic, set plants, and put a wire over plastic primarily for crops. Workers will remove weed by hand. Workers will hand harvest employers crops as instructed by their supervisor. Crops will be harvested based on size, quality, color and supervisors instructions. To keep tractors from damaging vines, use bamboo stick to slide vines up onto plastic and turn vines. Workers cannot flip vines upside down. According to supervisor’s instructions weed crops. Sanitize and wear hairnets, gloves and aprons provided by the employer at no cost. Workers are not permitted to take aprons to restrooms. Clean and maintain work area, tools and equipment. Work outside in hot (up to 100+ degrees), humid, wet and/or cold (as low as 35 degrees) weather conditions, lift and carry up to 60 lbs., toss up to 30 lb. watermelons, walk, push, pull, stoop, bend, sit, stand, and reach for prolonged periods of time. Must possess physical stamina. The employer does not employ persons convicted of sex related crimes, violent crimes, or drug related crimes except under extremely limited circumstances. Individual circumstances will be taken into consideration at the request of the applicant. Employer is a Drug Free Workplace. Drug testing is conducted post-hire at the employer’s expense and is not part of the interview process. Negative results are required before starting work. Three months of experience hand harvesting a perishable crop.

Special Requirements:  Must have three months experience hand harvesting a perishable crop. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing post-hire at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
