It all started with the seed of an idea. In 1978, Ralph Robbins knew that trees needed to be saved from the devastating effects of invasive Gypsy Moth Caterpillars. An entrepreneur at heart, Ralph saw an opportunity to turn his passion for tree preservation and environmental care into a business that could further the connection between people and nature, and both do good, and do well. And so, SavATree was born.

In 1985, Ralph teamed with Daniel van Starrenburg — today’s Executive Chairman, and a graduate of the nation’s oldest Arboriculture program at the University of Massachusetts — to expand SavATree’s reach, and take the business of tree care nationwide.
