ABOUT US

WHERE DID OTTERBACHER SHOWS BEGIN?
It started in 1959 when Richard and June Otterbacher decided to sell popcorn and candy apples for extra money. Before long they had 5 popcorn trailers playing county fairs and festivals throughout Ohio. Then in 1963 they purchased a couple of rides and booked them with several shows. By 1966 they formed a show called Otterbacher Amusement Company and continued growing to a two-unit 38-ride show.

A NEW GENERATION
When the 80’s came around this was getting too much to handle so they cut out the second unit and concentrated on one well-managed carnival. In 1989 Jim Otterbacher and his wife Janet took over operations of running the show, and in 1995 purchased the show from his parents and changed the name to Otterbacher Shows.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Our goals are committed to provide safe, fun family entertainment with the cleanest rides, game and food concessions available. Also to provide all our fairs and festivals with different equipment each year and to continue the growth of our company and your fair or festival.

All rides are required to be licensed by the state in which it works. Rides are inspected by state and local authorities to help provide a safe operating midway.

All rides are up to ASTM standards on amusement rides and devices and will remain in this condition as long as we own them.

Inspection protects our future and yours. All rides are inspected by staff members trained to inspect and operate each daily using manufacturers guidelines and common sense.

All rides also have specified height and/or weight limits per manufacturer’s requirements. This sometimes creates a problem with the parents. We try to explain that safety restraints are made for a wide variety of persons and may not hold some small children. Be patient there’s always next year. Please put safety first.
