Blue Mountain Farm’s seeds were planted in 1952 when its founder Chris Dornbierer hailed from Switzerland to New Jersey where he started his first greenhouse business. In 1976 he relocated to New Ringgold Pennsylvania when he established Blue Mountain Farms. Chris Dornbierer had started a family in New Jersey, their two children Steven and Helen moved to New Jersey. Helen was followed by her future-husband Robert Miller who also had experience in horticulture. In the summer of 1977, Robert and Helen wed and went on to establish a family of four (Corrie, Andrew, Jonathan, and Benjamin).

Bob, who established himself as “Bob from Blue Mountain,” went on to take over the business from Chris in 1987 after retiring. Bob did not take over the greenhouse without a lot of helping hands. The four children found themselves useful around the business and Jonathan and Andrew went on to make the greenhouse their life’s work.

In January of 2021 Bob retired, leaving the business to Jonathan and Andrew who have established their own family within a stone’s throw of the business.

Now, as Jonathan and Andrew takeover they hope to continue to show the same love and dedication to the business, employees, customers and family that Chris did when establishing the business in 1976.
